Why blame women's rights advocates that men don't take care of their own?

I see allot of men blaming women on this board that men's rights don't get addressed in society. Isn't that kind of on us to take care of? And their job to work for theirs?

  1. Sure, but they have to quit asking men for help if that's the case, and I don't see that happening anytime soon, except for the real man-haters who think men are pathetic creatures anyway.  But who really cares what those idiots think?

  2. I believe the point is that many claim that feminism is about equality.  Maybe they believe that in theory - not all of them seem to support that in practice.

  3. d**n good question

EDIT: Prof. Yea I perked up at "oppression".  I don't think he understood the question.

    Loving the irony here.....

  4. I do think a great many men are complaining that feminist are not fighting for their rights, while they do nothing for themselves, I admit I have been guilty of this myself in the past. But here’s the dilemma if men fight against the unjust laws that currently afflict men, this would put them in direct opposition against feminist. Those laws that men consider to be unfair, women more by far benefit from them, so any crusade to change them would mean taking those benefits away. Can any woman who reads this and calls herself a feminist truthfully tell me that they would be fine with that situation or could stand by and do nothing while this happens?

  5. Forty years ago, these people would have been indignant that Martin Luther King wasn't fighting for the rights of white Americans to sit at the front of the bus.

  6. You would have a good point IF feminists didn't claim that they aren't just women's rights activists.  They say they're fighting for equality for women AND men which is obviously not true.

  7. Is anyone going to answer this?

And why did this answer get by anyone: "women fight for rights to the detriment of men its considered "social Justice""  Women having rights does not harm men.

  8. No. Men have only experienced a deterioration of their rights because of feminism. See Section 4 here http://www.freewebs.com/feminism-evaluat...

    Edit

@ Tracey:   If Martin Luther King had wanted to give rights to Black people and then take them from Whites you could compare feminism and Civil Rights in this way.  But frankly comparing women's 'domestic slavery' to the actual problems that Black people experienced is pretty insulting to Black people in my opinion.

  9. No. If women(feminist) are going for equality they should also include men to have equal rights too. That's how I see it. Good question though.

  10. While I disagree with the premise that it's the victim's fault, I agree with you on principle. Men blame women and feminism for their plight without realizing that feminism has been fighting against many of the same things that "men's rights activists" fight against. This is why I don't like placing them in separate camps. If men would stop blaming feminists for what's happening to them and realize that it's a result of power structures established by other men, they might be able to swallow their pride and join feminists who happen to be fighting to them too, despite all the bad-mouthing.

  11. Men's Rights group criticize feminists/feminism; because feminists have done things that negatively affect men's rights, like pushing for sexist laws and acts that favor women but discriminated against men

  12. NOPE.

Its not an issue of blame its an issue of hypocrisy.

If feminists stand for "equality" then they should fight for both sides. When feminism started, there were men fighting for it too.

So why can't women who believe in so called "equality" do the same?

    Hypocrisy, that's why....

  13. I don't blame normal women; normal women are interested in the advancement of humanity.  It's modern Feminists who aim to eradicate men's rights.

  14. It's the wonderful Hypocrisy of the system

When women fight for rights to the detriment of men its considered "social Justice"

When men fight for rights to the detriment of women, it is considered "oppression"

But your right, men are giving over control in certain areas of their life to women piece by piece

  15. Because these same advocates didn't give women equal rights. They took rights away from men, and after giving women the same rights they took away from men, they fought for and got even more rights and freedoms for women.

But then again, anything that goes wrong is the men's fault. Always. You feminists are all the same.

Girls in school usually hate my guts about ten minutes after I start talking to them. Men who do stand up for themselves and take care of their own are social outcasts. If it's my buddies first and then the girls, I'm sexist, patriarchal and should be kept a good distance from. If a girl sticks to the gals more than she bothers about boys, she's a strong and independent role model.

Feminists have shown that world that it indeed is possible to have your cake and eat it too.

  16. first of all it's for them  not for theirs and second of all the reason why we don't take care of men's rights is because we're to busy with yours and you don't help with men's rights, that's why we blame you for it.

  17. All of us should be fighting for each other, at least to some degree. But to say that the burden is entirely on feminists is exactly the kind of entitlement mentality that MRAs tend to oppose.

  18. I agree partially.  I still feel that since I have a husband, tons of nephews, and male friends that I will fight for their rights.  Not sure how I could do this if they didn't bring them to my attention or feel that they were worth fighting for.  I agree that men should focus on men's rights without insulting women or attempting to attack women's rights.
