  1. i cant exactly answer where championship belts came from or why they use them opposed to medals but its said that the first belt awarded was in 1809 to tom cribb for beating jem belcher. The ring presented its first belt to Jack Dempsey in september 1921

  2. Medals are g*y. Where to put a medal and how tacky would it look on your wall?

  3. tradition, champions have always been awarded championship belts. medals were awarded to amatuers.

  4. I think the belts represent boxing better remember back when

champs came into the ring with one on each shoulder and the biggest one around the waist..........where did those days go????

  5. They'd fight harder if they won the ringside hos!

  6. Medals in the Olympics

    Belts are for professional champions

  7. Because the champion ship title belt was around longer then medals. And plus its pretty "g*y" as she said up there. Imagine Pretty boy Floyd having 7 or 8 medals drapped around his neck. Medals are for the amatures, belts are for the pro's. A Medal over a belt just implies cheapness.  See how many fighters would fight for a medal instead of a belt.

  8. Medals As They Progress.

  9. by the time a boxer gets a championship belt they will probly have more medals and trophys than they care to talk about especially the ones with a long amature carrer
