Question:

Why bring young baby out?

Are there good reasons to bring a young baby out? I thought it would be good for the baby to see and experience different places and people, but a friend said the baby "doesn't need to go out", that he's too young to really care. Is there any basis for either viewpoint?

  1. Nothing wrong with taking your baby out, but I never understood women, with their hospital bands still on, out at the grocery store with the baby or taking pictures at Wal-Mart.

  2. fresh air for a start

  3. Why not?  :)

I have no real germ fears, since I breastfeed, and we take my daughter everywhere!  She's flown often since she was 3 months, from Puerto Rico to California, and then on to Guam!  And that kid is never sick, nor needed antibiotics.

I think taking a newborn outside for fresh air and sunshine (great for jaundice) is wonderful!  This paranoia about all things "dirty" coupled with overuse of antibiotics and antibacterial products is leading to MRSA skyrocketing!

  4. BRING THE BABY OUT... I HAD A FRIEND THAT NEVER TOOK HER DAUGHTER OUT UNTIL SHE WAS 6 MONTHS OLD FOR FEAR OF GERMS.. SHE TOTALLY REGRETS IT NOW..HER DAUGHTER IS AFRAID OF HER OWN SHADOW! LOL! SHE CRIES WHEN THEY TRY TO PUT HER IN THE CARSEAT..SHE CRIES IN THE CAR..SHE CRIES THE WHOLE TIME SHES CRIED SINCE SHE WAS 6 MONTHS OLD AND NOW SHES 3 YEARS AND CRIES ALL THE TIME EVERYWHERE THEY GO..THEY CAN'T GO ANYWHERE!

  5. I took my daughter every where as soon as I could walk after my c-section.  It payed off when that she was used to it and never screams in the car, in her stroller, nothing.  Besides, don't you need to go out?  It's good exercise just to walk outside with them.  Even in the snow, well bundled up!

  6. my health visitor said that in addition to the wealth of experiences the baby can have and the break from being indoors it gives you, it is good for babies to be outside as too many never really experience air as such. they live in air conditioned, centrally heated houses and then go into cars to go out. unless you live in an incredibly polluted area I would say take a baby out as much as you can!

  7. Bring a baby outside?  I think its good for them to get use too it.  The different sites and smells and stuff.

  8. It's great for both mom and baby to go out!  Baby gets to experience new sites and sounds, and mom gets out of the house.  I always like getting my son out a few times per week because it breaks up our day.

  9. Baby (4 months now) and I go out every day, even if it's just to walk the dog.

When he was smaller and didn't have a sleeping routine, we would take him out for dinner as well, but that's not possible anymore as he wants to be in bed by 7:30 these days.

And when he had trouble falling asleep, we'd put him in a sling and go for a walk in the evening. Worked everytime, he's be asleep in a few minutes.

Also, when you have errands to run, you need to go and run them.

At first all the new impressions and smells were a lot to take in for him, but now he loves going out, seeing different faces, looking at everything outside and in the shops.

When he's tiny take him out for short trips, but as he gets older he can go anywhere with you.

  10. Do u mean out like travinling i dont think a baby sould travel till maybe the age of 5 or 6 but if u mean like out doors yea u should cuz u need to get them use the the plants and trees so they wont have allergies they need to go outside cuzz kids get anxiaty also

  11. I dont think babys should be taking on holidays abroad but to go outside the house like a park, shopping etc then whats the prob! Babies need fresh air and u cant sit in the house all the time. I used to take my daughter out all the time. U take ur baby out its up to u.
