what i mean by that is,like when the stock goes up say to $1.25 i give the order to sell my shares.

But by the time the market closes during that time the order expires and wont sell. But the stock is up to my selling price, like when i give the order to sell by $1.25 the stock is at $1.25.

Of course then it falls and goes up and so on.

Why do they not sell my shares when the market goes up to my asking price?

I am using scottrade by the way....help please

  1. A $1.25 stock probably trades with very small volume every day.

If there are no buyers willing to buy your stock at your asking price, it will not get sold.

The price drops looking for buyers and sellers at the lower price.

When it comes back to your asking price, if there are no buyers, it doesn't get sold.

That's why you should not trade a stock with a daily minimum volume of less than 600,000

Check the daily volume at -http://www2.barchart.com/lookup.asp?

Enter the symbol and go to - Technicals

  2. He can't sell what someone doesn't want to buy.

  3. You enter an order to sell at 1.25,  what was the bid when you entered your order.  And what was the full quote??

What market are you trading in??

If you come in offering stock at 1.25 there probably stock ahead of you at 1.25 if it trades after your enter was entered.

If you have an order to sell 1.25 and the stock trades above 1.25 you would be entitled to an execution.

You should have the quote and size, when you put the order in, so you know what you're competing against.

If you really want to sell, use MKT, this will get you out

If you think the broker isn't selling your stock, why not ask the source, your broker rather than those on YA

  4. You need a broker to help you, the money you think you are saving by using Scottrade is costing you a bundle.
