  1. If you want some real good help guides I have a website with links to the guides I used and found to be very helpfull.

    http://www.golfguide.synthasite.com

Take a look. these guides helped they me greatly.

  2. Different grips thickness can help you.

If you driver grip is too thin you can find yourself releasing your hands too early in the shot making you pull/draw the ball (hitting it to the left)

If your driver grip is too thick the opposite can happen (fade, going to the right)

You don't need to stick a putter grip on your driver but go to a pro shop and tell them the same what you have just wrote here and you might find that you will benefit from thicker/thinner grips.

So if you were hitting your 9 iron left for example and now you are hitting it straight because of changing to a thicker grip (putter) you will benefit from having all your irons re-gripped with thicker grips.

They won't need to be putter grips, just something thicker than you have now. The pro will be able to help you alot here.

  3. The USGA and R & A forbid it for sanctioned play.

If it's just you and your buddies... do whatever works for you.

  4. The Rules of Golf Appendix II - tells what the grip of a club specs are and any deviation where the grip helps position the hands would be in violation and the club would be used with the possibility of disqualification from a competition.

  5. You can do anything you wish but it is a violation of the rules of golf, assuming it is the normal flat sided grip.  Years ago they came out with grips in the shape of an hourglass per say...Gone soon after.

If you are using say Golf pride grips, use the markings on the grip to align your hands  The "V" would go where the "V"between your thumb and fore finger on your left hand, and this should be pointing towards your shoulder

The make several types of "legal" grips. If you find the typ. grip too small or have arthritisis in your hands, go with the bigger diameter grips.  Ladies grips are typically smaller and wiil accomodate smaller hands.

But honestly, if you are just learning...do whatever it takes.

I once had a lady ask me if teeing the ball up in the middle of the fairway is illegal...I asked where she had heard that. She was obviously a beginning beginner. She answered "my husband"

I explained that Tees were for the tee boxes however if it helps you hit the ball farther, go ahead.  I suggested that she suugest to her husband to compete with his buds on Saturday Morning and leave the Sunday Morning round of calm and leshurly play for you and him....atleast until you have to start giving him strokes :)

AND MOST OF ALL...HAVE FUN PLAYING GOLF ! it is the best sport going !

  6. and not have a reminder on on drivers through wedges only a putter .and if it's a long putter with two separate groups they have to be both around .USGA rules

  7. because you want your left hand in front and it also gives you even more accuracy and you can hit it a few more yards

  8. Basically it is agaist the rules to put a grip with a flat side on any club except for the putter. If you want a grip to help you place your hands you can get a grip with a reminder. One of the scratch golfers in our company use to put a grip with the reminder on the top and about 45 degrees to the left so the reminder would help him place his thumbs. If you go somewhere and explain to them what you are trying to accomplish, they can put the grip the way it would be most beneficial to you.
