Come on you have wimbledon courts, and you still cant produce any top tennis players.. and you end up giving emotional and hysterical support to talentless players and players from scotland like murray..

  1. They dont produce tennis players, mostly due to the fact that many in Britain choose to play their more popular sport of "football" ( soccer), as well as polo, cricket, golf. Not that Britain is a sports orientated country ( participant wise) to begin with. Perhaps if they built some indoor courts, being all the rain they get, more people might be interested in taking up tennis. Rusedski wasnt even a true Brit, but between he and Henman, many had thought of the possibility of others taking up the sport. I think the last "successful woman" was Jo Durie back in the 80's. They are most desperate for a tennis star, they are embracing Murray, which is ridiculous. Just cause he is a neighbor doesnt mean he is a Brit.

  2. Well Murray's a good player.

But, the reason Britain only has one decent player every 15 years or so is because there's no general interest in the sport other than for 2 weeks a year.  Lads who play sport are more likely to be interested in football (soccer) and cricket - games which have many clubs to join.  Girls see it as uncool and unfeminine to play sports. Tennis clubs are elitist and expensive. Talent's not enough, you need money and friends in the right places.

England has some good cricketers and footballers.  The footballers don't come together as a team when playing for England, players who are great for their clubs such as Lampard are c**p for England.  Most of England's cricketers are injured or don't have the winning instinct.  I'd go as far to say the coaching is pretty poor a lot of the time.  Sport in school is poor and there is a certain anti-competitive attitude. and there also isn't the pride in playing for the country that some other nationalities have.  Doesn't mean they're no good.

Murray is a Brit, but he's a Scot rather than English.  Scotland's still in Britain!

  3. it's not just good tennis players that the British can't produce, but almost all the levels of sports! even david beckham is not that good! he's so over rated!
