“Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government...”

Thomas Jefferson

“Leave no authority existing not responsible to the people.”

Thomas Jefferson

“Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.”

Thomas Jefferson

" Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual.”

Thomas Jefferson

" Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government) those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny”

Thomas Jefferson

“ The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive.”

Thomas Jefferson

" If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions.”

Thomas Jefferson

“Don't talk about what you have done or what you are going to do”

Thomas Jefferson

  1. I love Jefferson, good quotes....and YES "WE" should do something about our shoddy government, but no one has the balls anymore......

    ..

    ...bahhh  bahhh   sheep!

  2. Which problem, and what would you have us do?  I agree with almost everything Thomas Jefferson had to say, but we need a focus point first.

  3. I am trying to figure out what you think the problem is, and from reading what you quoted from Jefferson, I think you are talking about the government and the way the world is becoming, but forming a new government isn't going to solve that problem.  As long as we have free will, and free thinking, there will always be a difference of opinions amonst us.  No one person has the correct solution to EVERY problem, but we can try to come to a amicable solution so that NO particular person suffers worse from the decision that is made.

We can all give pretty speeches, but adhering to what we say is different.

Just as we can't blame one particular person for all that is wrong today, every person in congress has a chance to vote the way they feel, and whatever the population is at the time, albeit liberals, or conservatives, that will be the decision made.  We would all LOVE to blame one particular person, but that isn't a feasible idea.

It would be an intelligent person that did THEIR OWN research into the people running for office and then VOTE accordingly.  We all love to gripe about what the ELECTED OFFICIALS are doing, but mostly I have observed that the ones with the most gripes, are the ones NOT VOTING.

  4. What exactly is the problem you see?

That our government has become a tyranny and we should take it back by force.  Maybe you should read the rest of the Declaration of Independence.

That we have lost control over a government "of the people for the people by the people."  We haven't.  The people who have the balls to do it don't have the brains to do it properly.  And the people who have the brains don't have the balls.

That our leaders are slowly becoming tyrants.  Duh.  But we are not without power.  Thats why theres elections and terms of office.  If the leaders are not doing what their supposed to be, get a new one.  This is still a democracy and we still have the power.  We just forgot.  It is our duty as Americans to use it.  See above

That we should resist our government.  That we should not trust our govt or participate.  Thats what got us here in the first place.

  5. What is the problem you think we here in America are having?  Jefferson was a good talker but he wasn't personally a good actor upon his own beliefs.

    Good Luck!!!

  6. Have you e-mailed this to the White House? They forget who they work for.

  7. Why do you consider Thomas Jefferson to be a "problem"?

  8. We don't know how to read.

  9. "If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy "  James Madison

    :-o

  10. So, no doubt you know of the "Real Problem", since you are right up there with Jefferson, correct?

    Snort

  11. Americans are busy with business and many are no longer paying attention to politics and foreign policy.
