Question:

Why can't Canada build a city larger than New York...in the Yukon Territory?

And then call it Arctic City and break the record for the largest population center north of the Arctic Circle?

And have it look like a HUGE Las Vegas, only with Polar Bears sharing the streets and LOTS of beers? And make a metro transit underground system made out of ice?

And use artificial solar light technology to make it daylight in winter.

  1. We COULD, but it would make no sense to do it. Not enough people live there, it is too far from major centres.

The metro transit underground also would not work, since they would have to go under the sea, not underground.

How would you heat a tunnel in icy waters?

Also, there is already more daylight there than in any other part oc Canada.

  2. Duh!

  3. Mostly because in order to build a large city there has to be a need, and the people of the Yukon like things the way they are.   Anyway, it is much more fun to go visit places like Las Vegas for a little while, and then come home to peace and quiet.

  4. There is only one highway in Canada.

  5. I don't know about your question, but would it be possible for you to share some of your drugs with us?

  6. To build a big city you need a big population or a lot of money or both.

If you want an alternative to Las Vegas, go to Dubai, its like Vegas on steriods with none of the sleaze.

There would also be concerns about the cost to the environment, it costs  a lot to keep people warm in the arctic, and transport costs to get food and supplies to the city.

canada is also experiencing a labour shortage so they don't have the workforce to construct this city.

  7. You can make a Mega-city in the Arctic, But you can't make anyone move there.

  8. Two major problems for that:  1 - the weather.  Most people do not want to live in the Yukon's climate year round (bravo to those who do...it's gorgeous up there, but it's not everyone's favourite type of climate).  2 - if the locals wanted to live in a major city, they'd live in one.
