Question:

Why can't Chevrolet keep up in NASCAR without having to constantly whine for rule changes?

This goes back to the 1960s. Chevy couldn't compete with the Chrysler Hemi so they whined until NASCAR effectively banned it. Then Chevorlet whined about Ford's proposed 427 and NASCAR banned it before it even ran. Then when Bill Elliot and other Fords were faster than Chevrolets, NASCAR mandated restrictor plates in the guise of safety. Now Chevrolet is whining about Toyota power and once again NASCAR changed the rules so the Chevy's can compete.

Why does NASCAR not tell the Chevy people to make a better engine instead? France family ownership of Chevy dealers perhaps?

  1. It is not whining..it it called lets make a deal and level the field!!!

And why you singling out Chevy..all the others manufacturers are complaining about the Toys...now..lets ponder this....if the others manufacturers where taking notes and watching carefully..they would already be up on the technology that the Toys have and therefore you would not have to ask this question!

BTW: What has the France Family have to do with it, they do not own Chevy, Dodge or Ford..perhaps grasping for straws???

  2. Here's my opinion: they don't know how to improve upon anything like the rest of the car makers.

  3. have you seen the losses they(ford and Chevy) have. over 10 billion in the last quarter alone. ya billion! if you were in there shoes, your rival comes in and in one year starts to kick your azz! plus gas prices are insane, every one starts to buy little cars you were once king now your in a hole !what the h**l would you do?

  4. The France people set the rules.  When the rules shade one team over another I do not consider it whining to complain about it.  It is my understanding that NASCAR has done a dyno test several times a year in the past but none this year so far.  If so why not?  Politics??

  5. because they are jealous of dodge, Toyota, and the ..being nice but it hurts ..fords  !!!  may i also mention they have sissy drivers who whine , complain , and throw temper tantrums at the tracks when things do not go their way !!  i refuse to mention names due to the thumbs down patrol...it would just give them reason to show up !!

  6. Toyota.....copying Chevy engines since 1936!

  7. Chevy DOES have a better engine for the Nationwide series but NASCAR decided to not approve it so that Toyota could have an advantage.  EVERY manufacturer can build a bigger, more powerful engine but NASCAR limits them because they have to put a limit somewhere plus they say they are trying to keep the costs down for the teams.  Toyota's "superior" engine has less to do with their ability to out perform the domestic makes and more to do with the politics that have always been part of racing.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  8. Why don't you explain why Chevy has a new engine in Cup but NASCAR forces them to run the old one in Nationwide?  Ford has been trying to get a new engine for years and NASCAR wont let them have one.

At the same time Toyota can use the same engine in all the NASCAR series.  They had a huge HP advantage in Nationwide and this just put them back with Chevy, Ford, and Dodge.

The restrictor plates were all about safety.  Those cars were almost 20 mph faster than the cars from the last few years.  A car tore down the entire catch fence and came very close to ending up in the stands.  If thats not about safety then nothing is.

You want to talk about whining then you need to include Jack Roush.  Of course he has a legit complaint after MWR got caught with stolen Roush parts.  We know we cant ever bash Toyota for cheating though.  Even if they are the only manufacturer to ever be banned from a major motorsports series because they got caught cheating.

wahoo - NASCAR has dynoed the cars several times this year.  Toyota has a small advantage in Cup and a huge one in Nationwide.
