Question:

Why can't I access my desktop through my laptop?

I'm trying to share my printer with my laptop through my desktop. I can ping both by IP and computer name. However when I go start->network->click on desktop pc it says it's not accessible. I don't have any permission. When I type in the computer name, it gives me the same message. The same goes when I type in the IP address. I already chatted with Norton and the problem's not with them because they disable it for a while. I already right clicked the printer and shared it. File and printer sharing is on.

Plus, I can see all my laptop's files from the desktop. So, I think there must be a problem with the desktop or something.

  3. My first thought is a firewall of some sort?  Windows or Norton?

Maybe trying booting the desktop into safe mode w/ networking to make sure its not your AV program?

  4. You should try to add a printer via control panel and see if you can see that shared printer that way.
