Why can't I add a photo to my profile in my group? (This option is not available at this time, check later)

I just created this group. Maybe I have to allow the photos, but, if so, I haven't figured out how to do that.

the group photo feature is different than your profile photo- which are you talking about? adding a photo to your profile really has nothing to do with a yahoo group- and it uses something like Flickr these days.

If you mean adding a photo to your Profile (as opposed to adding a photo to the Photos section of Yahoo Groups), then it's not just a problem with you.  Every time I've checked my Profile for the last month or so, it has included the message "The Edit Picture feature is temporarily unavailable. Please check again later."  I don't know why Yahoo is doing this to us, but I just sent in a Help form asking about it.
