Why can't I burn onto my re-writable disc?

I have tried putting the disc in and then going to "My Computer", right clicking "erase disc" and after that trying to burn music onto it but it still says on windows media player that it is not a blank disc.

I then went onto media player, and in the library I right clicked on the Audio CD: (E) icon and clicked erase. It appeared to be erasing and then it said "Erasing complete" but then when I try and burn songs onto the disc it says its not a blank disc, and I have just put the CD into the computer again and its just playing the music that it SUPPOSEDLY deleted (By the way its definetly a re-writable disc)

but does anyone have any advice? Im really annoyed >:( xxxx

  1. Open the disk. Right click ( Control + Click for iMAC ) on one of the music files. Select the Properties tab.

Is is set to "read only"? If so, you may have made the disk un-erasable.

  2. Get some other CD-RW erasing software, google it!

  3. Try to burn with Ashampoo Burning Studio Free.

You can also format your CD's, burn audio cd's, data cd"s, copy dvd/cd etc.
