Question:

Why can't I condemn pedophiles without the left coming to their defense?

Everytime I condemn them and propose capital punishment the left roll out the old "life is sacred" stuff. What is there to loose from it? What about the person who was abused and is scarred for life.

Are you sick of the left defending pedophiles, along with g**s and abortionists?

  1. Look man, the left has this blind mindset that the less we punish criminals, the safer we become as a society, even though the real world fcts completely contradict that belief. Liberal policies on crime have led to SKYROCKETING crime rates in the last 40 years. The United States was an incredibly safe country before the Warren court arrived and fucked everything up. And even today, the United States homicide rate is only 65 more per 100,000 then European countries, depite the fact that we ahve millions and millions more people. Europe doesn't punish their fristd egree criminals, and as a result, those countries are incredibly dangerous palces to live, especially France, where Muslim rots occur in the Suberbs all the time. It got so bad there that the French elected a conservative prime minister. At least in America most states ahve the death penalty and a mandatory sentence like jessicas law. But in states like Vermont and Massachusets (which don't even ahve that many people), the rates of viokent crime in thos states is proposterously high. Why? Becaus ethey don't punish their monsterous criminals!

Social programs do NOTHING to prevent crime. Bill Clintons social programs in the mid 90's were a DISASTER. So was Mikael Dukakis's furlough system. Every attempt to treat first degree criminals has utterly failed. Even if a monster doesn't commit another heinous act the recidivism rate for first degree criminals is so high that they ahve to be monitored 24-7. And then when they do get abck in the real world, nobody wants to hire them ebcause of their criminal record, and then they commit more crimes.

Its a vicious process that brings nothnig but pain and suffering to society , and yet, it is advocated by liberals. The bottom line is this: to keep society safe, we must lock up firstd egree criminals. Non violent criminals are another story, but with firstd egre criminals like Ted Bundy, it is a FACT that the harsher we punish them, the safer we become as a society.

  2. I supported capital punishment for a long time, but I have changed my stance over the years, for several reasons.

You'll be glad to know that none of them are of the "life is sacred" variety:

    1. By far the most compelling is this: Sometimes the legal system gets it wrong. In the last 30 years in the U.S., over 100 people have been released from death row after years of imprisonment because they were exonerated by DNA evidence. Unfortunately, DNA evidence is not available in most cases. No matter how rare it is, the government should not risk executing one single innocent person.

Really, that should be reason enough for most people. If you need more, read on:

    2. Because of higher pre-trial expenses, longer trials, jury sequestration, extra expenses associated with prosecuting a DP case, and the appeals process (which is necessary - see reason #1), it costs taxpayers MUCH more to execute prisoners than to imprison them for life.

    3. The deterrent effect is questionable at best. Violent crime rates are actually higher in death penalty jurisdictions. This may seem counterintuitive, and there are many theories about why this is (Ted Bundy saw it as a challenge, so he chose Florida – the most active execution state at the time – to carry out his final murder spree). Personally, I think it has to do with the hypocrisy of taking a stand against murder…by killing people. The government becomes the bad parent who says, ‘do as I say, not as I do.’

    4. There’s also an argument to be made that death is too good for the worst of our criminals. Let them wake up and go to bed every day of their lives in a prison cell, and think about the freedom they DON’T have, until they rot of old age. When Ted Bundy was finally arrested in 1978, he told the police officer, “I wish you had killed me.”  Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (the architect of the 9/11 attacks) would love nothing better than to be put to death.  In his words, "I have been looking to be a martyr [for a] long time."

    5. Most governments are supposed to be secular, but for those who invoke Christian law in this debate, you can find arguments both for AND against the death penalty in the Bible. For example, Matthew 5:38-39 insists that violence shall not beget violence. James 4:12 says that God is the only one who can take a life in the name of justice. Leviticus 19:18 warns against vengeance (which, really, is what the death penalty amounts to). In John 8:7, Jesus himself says, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

  3. Because liberals love criminals, because that's where they get there best tips.

  4. personally i have no problem with the idea of pedophiles being strung up by their guts but how exactly are g**s and abortionists criminals? g*y people are different but they sure as h**l don't hurt anyone, and while i don't exactly agree with abortion its their choice not yours

  5. the first part of your Q i agreed with regarding pedophiles... but whats with punishment gor g*y people and females  who have abortions .... they may be having an abortion because of a pedophile!!

i thought you were a sensible man until the last two comments... g*y people arent animals like pedophiles!!!! and abortionists, well. dont judge a person till youve walked in their shoes.

  6. The left protects all the things that damage our culture and America as a whole...have you ever noticed that?  It is like they think backwards from the rational, law abiding citizen.  The whole problem of pedophiles out of jail and back on the streets could be easily solved by making life sentences with no time out for good behavior.  If society as whole did that and they knew it would be happening, they would at least have to think first.

We are exposing our children by being easy on them.

In California, when they made the three strikes you're out law it really changed things.  They still have criminals...but they know it's coming!

As far as abortionists....everytime I see the ad with the touchy feely music to "save the animals", I think when is someone going to say "save the babies"...isn't that a little more important?  So to me, abortionists should be called what they are...baby killers. ...but we live in a backward world.

  7. How about protecting kids??  With that in mind there are good reasons for opposing the death penalty in these cases.

•First of all, to avoid the death penalty the rapist is more likely to kill the key and only eyewitness, namely his victim.

•Secondly, rape and abuse of children is already one of the most underreported crimes, because they are most often committed by fathers, uncles, and family friends. If the perpetrator can face the death penalty, the crime will be even less likely to be reported.

•Additionally, children who are victims of rape and abuse often carry a heavy load of guilt which would be made much worse if the victimizer is executed.

•Last of all, defendents in rape cases have been misidentified by victims. Take a look at www.innocenceproject.org for information about cases where rape victims identified the wrong person. Children have also been manipulated into making accusations of rape and abuse where no such crimes even occurred.

Poole is mistaken about Massachusetts and Vermont. Homicide rates are much lower in Massachusetts and Vermont than the national average.   In the last year for which FBI stats are firm, 2006, homicide rates (murder and non negligent manslaughter) were 5.7 per 100,000 for the nation as a whole, but 2.9 per 100,000 for Massachusetts and 1.9 per 100,000 for Vermont.

Source FBI Uniform Crime Report, 2006

The same is true when you look at all violent crime:

    National Average: 473.5 per 100,000

    Massachusetts: 437, Vermont 136.6

At least he has acknowledged that rates for violent crime are higher in the US than in Europe.

  8. as i said before, you're the one who deserves capital punishment as it is you who wants to murder people for thought alone.

Pedophilia is an attraction to prepubescent children, it is not criminal, if it were it would be a thought crime and 'there are no victims of thought only action.'

Society is in a moral panic unmatched since the days of witch burning. You and others like you buying into this hysteria are the ones who should be given capital punishment, than the past could quit repeating itself.

  9. The same catch-22 can be used against the right wing though. They lobby night and day against abortion because it's 'murder', and yet are perfectly willing to snuff out a fully grown person. Yes, they have lived to be conscientious and have made their own decisions, but still, the principle remains the same, does it not?

I have nothing against capital punishment or abortion, I just think both sides can be quite hypocritical.

  10. so you're saying you'd want mike nifong, the duke lacrosse prosecuter, to have that power

michael savage, went on and on on his radio show about how HE was the one who uncovered the Duke Lacross prosecution mike nifong scandal - maybe he was

but then he goes on and on about how anyone who's against the death penalty for aleged child rapists is terrible

hellllloooooo, what if someone gets 'Nifonged'?

would you want those innocent locrosse players put to death?

you think the false accuser and prosecuter (Mike Nifong)wouldnt have taken it another step?  like they werent already over the line?

no, i really wouldnt care about the truely guilty

but pass death penalty for rape, and you're going to execute innocent people - at least with murder, there's a dead body as evidence

lots of people who've served years for rape are being freed after being proven innocent - cant walk out of prison if you've been executed

  11. I my opinion, we need to bring back public hangings for pedophiles.   The kind of public hangings where you used to get the family  together, have a picnic, and watch the guy cry and beg, then spoil his-self right before a noose is put around his head.   I wouldn't take many of these "picnics" before we saw a dramatic drop in pedophilia.   No joke.  I would sign a petition today for this kind of deterrent.
