Why can't I copy DVD's to my computer?

I can copy CD's to my computer, so why can't I copy DVD's? I know it can be done because I see other people's homemade videos on youtube.

You need the proper software to copy DVDs... Roxio makes a great program that's included on many computers like HP or Dell !  DVDs with copywrite protection won't copy !
