Question:

Why can't I delete an account on my computer?

A couple of weeks ago, I created an account for my brother on my computer. But he's been using that account to play computer games too much, so I want to delete the account. I know, it's a little irresponsible. But I really don't want his eye sight to deteriorate as a result of using the computer too much on games. So I tried to delete the account, but every time I try, the program gives me a "Not Responding" message. I tried making a new computer administrator account and tried deleting the account from there, but it does the same thing! Why is this happening, and how do I fix it? Thanks!

  1. On a computer, there is a Local Admin Account that CANNOT be deleted.  Did you take that account and rename it?  Windows makes it so you have ONE Admin account.

You can disable and/or rename the account .

Got to Start > Run > type compmgmt.msc

Go to Local Users and Groups

Right Click on his account > Click Properties and Click Disable Account.

Right Click on his account > Rename and call it something he wont recognize!!!

  2. Dont do that.  Besides, i think gaming helps your eye sight

  3. If you're desperate do either of the following:

    1.  Choose delete from User Accounts

    2.  Place a password on the account for temporary lockout.

    3.  Delete the user folder from C:\Documents and Settings
