I'm 14, and I can lift 40 pound dumb-bells easily, but I can't do push ups for some reason. I don't know if I'm doing them wrong or not. I'm sure I'm doing them right. Why can't I do push ups?!

  1. How much do you weight? If your heavier they will be a lot harder.  If your too weak to do them not lift more weights and you'll get stronger and be able to do them no problem.

  2. make sure your back is straight

because its hard to do them with an arched back

also dont start with doing like 30 push ups

start with like 5 and work your way up

then you will develop the muscles you use for push ups and they will become easier

  3. you can do the down part of the pushup for a while to build up strength for full pushups.

just get in to the pushup position and lower yourself slowly. take about 10secs. to lower. then push yourself up with your knees get back into the pushup position and just keep lowering yourself slowly until you can't control the lowering speed.

also, you might try gripping the floor. just create tension in your arms by gripping the floor and you might be able to do a pushup.

///practice every other day and you should be able to do full pushups in no time.
