Why can't I do these things?

I've asked my mom to put me in activities....like Club Volleyball, Gymnastics, or piano lessons....but she either tells me no right off the back...or she'll just ignore me. Then when it comes to my little brother, SHE'S the one asking HIM if he wants to play baseball or t-ball..or whatever little kids are forced to play...I'm always wanting to go to the park and I ask her to play volleyball with me, and she just yells at me or says she's "tired" or she's "busy" when, in actuality, she's watching tv or sleeping....I used to be a lot more active, but now that I can't do anything...I stay on the computer....AND THEN she gets mad at me and tells me I need to get out more!! *sigh*I mean, If I were put in some activities that I truly love...I wouldn't be sittin' around all day.....what do I do? I've tried to ask my grandparents to help me pay for tuition to an out of school volleyball team...but ends never meet...and I'm still stuck here...I don't know what to do.

  1. Are you near a park where other people meet to play? Ask around and see if there is any type of activity organized by Big Brothers/Big Sisters or the local Y-volunteer! You gain experience doing what you love best, and it looks great on applications and resume's-many schools are requiring volunteer time now.

  2. try games that use your brain, easy to learn but difficult to master.  For example, chess, or Go (an ancient Japanese board game where the object is to control more points on a 19 x 19 board than your opponent).  Or, you could get some friends together and form a garage band.  OR, get a bicycle.

  3. my life use to be like that but now every thing has changed b/c i had a talk with my mom i told her she needed to get a life or get a job but if your scared to talk to your mom just call your friends up and ask them if they wanna go to the park or some thing but if you don't have any friends ill go!jk o and if you don't have money get a JOB! (no offense)

  4. that sux!! My mom was kinda like that when I was little. I was in dance, which I loved doing, but I had to quit and my little brother got to start karate. I was so disappointed..and still kinda regret it. But  I guess forget her...stop depending on her, and then she'll come running to you..its hard, but thats sorta what I had to do with my mom. I turned to my g-parents..they've helped me out the most. and if they cant help you with money..get a job!!

that all sorta ran together..but you get the point!!

    Good luck!

  5. humm maby you can get a job close to your house so you can get their on your own and save up your money

  6. Your in a real tough spot here. It would be great if your mom would go out and play ball with you, but I am guessing that she lacks the self confidence to just get up and go do it.

Theres not much you can say to change her mind, she is grown up and grown ups are too stubborn to change there ways.  So take it as it is and find a way to play with out her.

If you have a car it is easier, if you have a job it becomes even easier. I am guessing that your too young for both, I was in this situation a couple of years back, only I had to work to feed my mother and her friends faces instead of playing sports. My high school coaches showed up at my house one day and begged her to let me quit my job and play sports but she refused and our relationship has suffered ever since. I am now 29 and still hold a slight grudge for the treatment i received.

The best advice I can give is to either ride your bike to the local YMCA they usually have pick up leagues that are not very strong, and are usually very cheap. Find a friend whose family needs a sitter to make a little cash, and know that in a couple of years you will have a car, and a job, then you can play when you want and were you want...

    Good luck,
