Why can't I download at my connection's max speed?

I using 512kbps, when i start the download, the speed was 70kb/s after 17% it became 11kb/s

  1. You have to provide more information on the connection that you have...

    Cable or DSL??

    Then you gotta ask...

    Do you have a firewall?

    Are you on a network?

    What other programs are you running that may be taking up bandwidth?

    Do you have a virus?

    Is there a tree rubbing on your line?

    Do squirrels like to chew on your line?

    Its not an easy answer to that question...

    check this to find out what speeds you get and call your internet provider to find out the minimum before they can have a technician come out.

  2. Because the server on the other end is either bogged down, or set to a slower connection to preserve bandwidth.

  3. Largely it's to do with the server or host you are downloading from - if they can't cope with the demand then it's going to lag your download speed.
