Question:

Why can't I edit my Yahoo 360 profile?

I go to the 'Basic Info' page, change something, and click 'Save'. The change appears to have been saved. But when I look at my profile again, it's the same as before. If I go back to the 'Basic Info' page, the change has gone and the original version has come back.

I want to change my nickname, how I'm displayed on Yahoo 360, and my current location. And I also want to alter a couple of my public/private choices. But I can't change anything (even one thing at a time).

  1. :-) Yes.

Simply, all fields with a red asterisk on that page must be completely filled in or the page will NOT save.

If you want to hide something, put the permission for that section to "Just Me (Private)" but you must still fill in that section completely. The one exception may be the Age section which can be a bit tricky. But at least choose to either fill in the birth date or the age there.

If you've done the above correctly and click the "Save" button, you will be re-directed to your "Home" page likely. Make sure to check how other people view your page by clicking on the drop down menu "Preview as seen by" at the top right of your 360 "My Page". Choose a permission group and click the "Go" button.

FYI: See http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 for accurate details regarding an upcoming change in this social networking platform. Also, the Y!360 team is no longer fixing bugs.

    The Yahoo 360 Blog

This tells you about what is going in  #60 and why Yahoo is not fixing the bugs

All their resources are going into getting the new social network ready.

The changes you are trying to do may be yet another bug in the system. Keep trying. If may help to sign out for a while and then sign back in.

Try to ''save and continue''. Even if this takes you to your other page settings just try the save and continue.

You may need to go to your 360 ''my page '' and see if the settings are the same as the ones you are trying to change and fix them also.

  3. I have contacted Yahoo on such a problem I have had since the day after Christmas and received responses ranging from insulting, juvenile and ambivalent enough to be laughable.

The crutch they use is this new Universal platform - there are glitches due to the system being renovated - but such permanent problems did not happen to my AOL pages when that company updated its platform. Check the corporate turmoil and sinking cost for a share of stock.....investors saw in October that Yahoo is rudderless and clueless, and we are now paying the price through garbage services.

It is equally amusing that I see on these serious questions by good customers the same answers from what are apparently corporate shills. It again shows the signs of a desperate company attempting to use cheap means to explain away corporate incompetence. It isn't working.
