Question:

Why can't I get my phone to work....?

Due to recent decorating, I moved my land line phone to another location in the house. When I put it back where it has always been and connected everything the same, i.e. phone, internet, sky, the phone will not work! I can ring it and leave a message but it won't ring and I can't get a dialling tone. I have had to move it back (to where I don't want it) and it works fine, but now if I use the phone (walkabout one) the internet goes off!! I am completely baffled as it all worked before the phone was moved. Any ideas please?

  1. That is baffling, i have no idea. Why not phone your supplier and ask them if they know what the problem could be.

It carnt be your adsl filter, wires etc. because it all works fine were you dont want it.

Your phone supplier is the best bet to find out what the problem is.

  2. It sounds like your ADSL microfilter has broken in the moving around, exactly the same thing happened to me about a month ago when I decorated my living room and I connected a new microfilter and it worked again straight away

    **UPDATE

The ADSL microfilter is the small box that plugs into your phone line in the wall that you then plug your phone into. You phone probably works where you don't want it as you are not using the microfilter that is in the other socket which is why your internet connection cuts out. Basically these small (usually white) boxes split your telephone line meaning that you are able to make a call with part of the line and then connect to the interenet with the other part of the line meaning that service to neither is interrupted.

  3. check you adsl filter
