Why can't I get on my wireless network at home?

Question

I just got a laptop and set up my linksys wireless G router . I know I did everything right so why can't I get on?

Do you have a wireless card in the laptop? If there is a wireless card in the laptop already then you just need to search for the network you have created on the router. If there isn't a wireless card built-in the comp, you need to go get one and put it in.

That happen a few times with my DSL router which I was hooked up directly with my USB wire.Then when disconnecting the line from the router and try-ed to use it wireless, I kept getting a masage on the screen saying on the web page, connection problems. I was told by Verizon to shut of the computer and router and wait for about a minute and then turn them both on, router first. After that I got my web page back. Try that first if not put your USB wire into the computer from the router and see if it works.Do that when their both off and then put back on.

make sure that you have right wep code

Unplug router and modem

Leave them for a minute

Plug in and let reset

next change your channel from the default 6 to anything else

1 and 11 are first picks

Your neighbors wireless signal can drift in out of the blue

You will have a good signal but no internet ( sound familiar)

make sure router is high and not cluttered

As a last resort reset the router and start from scratch

Make sure you have your dsl log in info if you have dls

well first did you install it on your computer/laptop you have to do this.Or plug in laptop 4 a while.or it could be just the g-router hope this helped

i need more details, i cant get on mine ether.

its most likely your wireless card. my airport card works on every network but my home network so i bought a dlink wua 1340 and works fine.

windows laptop: buy any cheap pcmcia or usb wireless card

windows desktop: buy any cheap usb or pci wireless card.

mac laptop: do research on the INTERNET "what wireless card works on mac laptops . PEOPLE IN STORES DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

same with desktop macs excluding imac and mac mini, g4 cube

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE D-LINK USB WUA 1340 WORKS VERY WELL ON MAC
