Question:

Why can't I give blood without getting sick

I have tried on numerous occasions to give blood, and then at later times plasma, but every time I do I either faint, puke, or a combo of the two. The sight of blood doesn't bother me in the least, needles don't scare me (I have 7 piercings including my tongue and I never blinked when they were doing them) and I am perfectly healthy, so why can't I handle my blood being taken out? The nurse said I had a reaction to it, but what kind of "reaction" is it? They were taking something out, not putting it in! And yes, I ate a good meal before I went etc, so why can't I give blood?

  1. It sucks but I cant give blood either. im not afraid of needles or blood or anything.. but everytime i get blood taken i will feel really nauscious or faint. the nurse usually just makes me lay down when im getting it taken and it deffinately helps. after you have given blood, lay there for atleast 5-10 min before sitting up and you should feel fine. hope this helps! :)

  2. Your body sees it as you rapidly bleeding to death and wants you to stop whatever you are doing to make it stop bleeding. The first time I tried giving blood I went into shock, stopped breathing and more or less died, but they dragged me back to life! I was told to never give blood again! I have given blood since then though and I always get sick within a few days. Giving blood is not a natural thing to do you know. People die of blood loss.
