Question:

Why can't I hear people when they call me?

I temporarily bought a new cell phone. I purchased a Cingular LG 1400 and I currently have T-Mobile service. The phone is unlocked and I am able to text message. When I make an outgoing call or receive a call I cannot hear the other person. In fact, I don't hear ANYTHING at all. They can hear my voice but not vice versa? I called T-Mobile tech support and they referred me to a third party who told me that they would have to repair the problem for an additional cost. Anything that I can do to remedy this myself? Or any idea why this is happening. Thanks in advance.

  1. just buy a t-moble phone

  2. try telling someone to call you

then hit the volume button to turn it

up or i tmight be on mute

  3. Maybe you have your phone on Mute button without knowing.

  4. You say its "unlocked" did you buy it on ebay or from another 3rd party site like that? Unlocked phones might not necessarily work with you carrier depending on the frequency they use. This is especially a problem with 3G, as carriers like AT&T have a different 3G frequency than T-Mobile. However, if you can text that the phone should be recognizing the network. It may just be a problem with the phone. If the phone from a 3rd party, there isn't much T-Mobile can do to help...I know, I've learned that lesson the hard way. If however you bought it from T-Mobile, they should be able to send you a replacement. You could also go back to the store you bought it and ask for a different phone of the same model to see if the problem persists.
