Why can't I join this group?

Question

I am seventeen years old and engaged with a house waiting in Ireland for me to finish high school.

Of course, Yahoo! has no way of knowing this.

I want to join a group, but it says I'm too young.

How can I contact Yahoo! and ask them to change my status? I don't want to download that stupid messenger thing, either, and nor do I want to wait -checks a calendar- seven months.

PS- I know seventeen may seem young, but understand in my culture the age when a woman can wed (and sometimes is) is fifteen.

The group you are trying to join must be an adult group.  To join an adult group, your account information must indicate that you are 18 years old.  It doesn't matter what your culture is or whether you are engaged.

culture has nothing to do with it, your yahoo account does and there is no way to change that. has to do with laws pertaining to age regardless of cultures. sorry.
