I have Windows XP.

I've never tried playing a DVD on my computer before because I have a dvd player. This is a dvd for my statistics class, so i cant simply view it on my tv, i need to do stuff. It won't play on my computers because I think I don't have a dvd decoder.

What do you guys think is the problem and how can I make it play?

  1. do you have a dvd drive on your computer?

  2. Make sure your computer actually has a DVD drive in it.

It should say "DVD" on the front of it.

If it does say "DVD" on it, try viewing the DVD using the free open source program "VideoLAN," AKA "VLC Player."

  3. 1. Verify that you have a DVD ROM to play your DVD.

    2. Verify that you have a software application to play your DVD.

    3. Make sure that you have your proper codecs installed.

Try using VLC media player its free and will play about any format you can think of .
