Why can't I post a direct link to a picture I have uploaded on line?

Every time I try to post an answer that includes a direct link to a photo, I receive an "error page". I have seen other users do this, but it doesn't work for me. Any idea what's going on?

I have found that Yahoo gives a 999 error when a link to a domain is used too often in a posting. They will not admit it but by removing the link the error goes away.
