Question:

Why can't I record on my Toshiba DVD recorder?

I own a new Toshiba D-KR0KU player/recorder. I have it attached to my new 47" Vizio LCD TV using HDMI. I have the correct disks (DVD-RW) and have formatted them. I tried to record using the "record" button. The front panel display appears to be recording, but when I playback, its a blank screen. I'm on DTV, connected to the tv using HDMI, and assume it'll record whatever is broadcast to the tv. Do I need to connect to the DTV box directly? The DVD player works great for movies I have, but I was in hope of recording TV to DVD. What am I doing wrong?

  1. The HDMI connection from the DVD to the TV is one way-from the DVD to the TV. In order to record, you have to connect the box output to the dvd input using either an S cable or yellow composite cable, plus the red/white audio cables.
