Hi I have been trying to see my credit report so I can set up a financial plan. I have never had a credit card and do not understand why I cannot see something that is called mine and something that can prevent me from getting loans or homes. I mean when I start back trying to get a financial plan going, I get reminded why I hate money so much. Its not the money I hate though, its all the NONSENSE that drives me crazy. when I try to find out from calling places I cannot get anyone on the phone. This is why I thank God everyday that he made me an artist. any words of wisdom please? thankyou

  1. Do not go to freecreditreport.com. It is a scam and you have to enroll in triple advantage which costs like $79.95. If you want a free copy of your credit report, go to annualcreditreport.com. This will put you in touch directly with the 3 credit reporting agencies.

  2. Go directly to the three credit reporting agencies and get it directly from them:

    http://www.experian.com

    http://www.transunion.com

    http://www.equifax.com

or go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i... which was set up by the three above so people could get their reports. You do have to authenticate your identity however.

  3. Depending on where you went online....a credit card is required to help assure your identity/security....or you went to a "free" place that tries to sell you monitoring services.

You can get all your credit reports free once per year by contacting each credit bureau directly.

Or you can mail one request form from here:

    https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/o...

I don't know if phone request will require a card for verification.

  4. Note that you don't get your credit score from annualcreditreport.com, just your credit reports.  To see your score, you'll need to apply for the trial subscription to a bureau's credit protection service (which is why you have to put in your credit card info).

  5. You should be able to get the report free unless you have already checked it this year. All three credit agencies allow you to look at your report once a year. However this does NOT include your credit score this is why they maybe asking for your card info.  Some sites will make you sign up for a program to dirct you to the credit sites just bypass them and go straight to the source.

  6. go to www.annualcreditreport.com.  You will not have to pay for the reports unless you have ordered them in the past year.

  7. Don't put in your card info. You should just go straight to the site that actually monitors your report instead of going to a site that will charge you to do so. www.annualcreditreport.com.
