I can connect to XBOX and use the dashboard just fine however when I start a Gears of War match (after FINALLY finding one) I will first lose voice connections, then I will freeze up, and then I will finally get lagged out and lose connection from the host. My computer has no problems with the connection. I have tried wired and wireless. Operating on a Belkin Router.

  1. try another game... GOW has some issues.  I have a fine connection and have experienced similar issues with that specific game.

  2. I too have a Belkin router and I'll give a few tips that should give you a fine connection.  Also Gears of War servers are usually all low ping for me and never lagg and I don't have anything special.  Just a Belkin Wireless G router (using wired though) and a Shaw High Speed internet connection.  Try these tips:

Use wired, it has a huge advantage over wireless because wireless gets so much interference and is for noobs who have a phobia of wires or filthy rich people who have a 100mbit/s connection on a gaming specialized Linkysys Wireless N router.

Look for a match under WarZone there are usually at least 15 servers open and use non-specific search options.

Select a match where you see three golden bars at the end of the server description,  that means low ping even though the bars are full because fewer bars in gears means worse connection.

Don't download anything on your PC while your playing to maximize speed.

That server crash you had was probably just the host turning off his xbox rather than officially canceling the match then turning it off.  This leave can often cause server glitches and hiccups and usually only occur with stupid people who leave the game improperly.
