Why can't I watch my videos on my computer from my Video camera ?

I have a DXG 506V digital viedo camera and i have a emachine T5224 with Window Vista Home Premium. The Video camera came with DXG- 506V Ver. 1.01 Presto! VideoWorks 6 and Presto! Mr. Photo3

I looked over the owner's manual (see source link below), and my best guess is that you need to install the XVID codec from the CDROM that came from the camera.
