Question:

Why can't I wear stylish clothing? I get so nervous and shy.?

Hi!

I like T-shirts, pants, and clothing that are very stylish and fashionable! Yet, whenever I wear them... I just walk around life, very nervous, very shy. My mind gets all wrapped up in this to the point of me not enjoying or fully experiencing stuff.

Then I just switch to my non-attention-getting clothes and they enable me to live more relaxed/carelessly. I have a clear mind (not worrying about people looking at me and my shyness). I really don't like the clothing, but they keep me in my comfort zone.

So, should I just accept my limitations and wear all that grayish unattention getting clothing (living more peacefully) ... or should I fight for what I want to wear and what I like even if it makes me have all those other side effects?

Thank You.

  1. It sounds to me like you can't wear stylish clothing because you're afraid that people will judge you. You feel like they will think those clothes don't suit you, or don't look right on you. Then, you change into clothes that make you feel more relaxed; this is because you feel safe in them. I mean yes, people will take a second look at a girl who's wearing a really trendy, loud outfit rather than a big tshirt and loose jeans outfit.

You need to be more comfortable with yourself and with your body. If you know those clothes are in style and you want to wear them, wear them! If people look at you, they may just be admiring the outfit. You have to develop your own style and know it very well. If you're confident in what you're wearing, no one can judge you. If you're conscious about what you're wearing, everyone will judge you because they see you're not too sure about how you look. So whatever you're wearing, wear it with confidence!

  2. Well people are bound to look at you if your wearing really stylish clothes. It your natural instinct to be nervous when eyes are on you. Because in the wild it meant a predator was watching you, and you wanted to blend into nature. Which is what your doing but with cities and people. So you can either get used to being a prey or be a chameleon. Your choice. You might want to consider counseling as well.

  3. Since you posted this in "psychology" then I guess you are looking for more than just a surface sort of answer. I would ask yourself questions about what the "different" clothing means to you. What do you think about when you see others wearing them? Are you afraid to be judged and then not come up to those expectations? Do the "new" clothes represent a "new" phase your life that you are not quite ready for, so are holding back? There is more to this than meets the eye (pun intended) so start exploring what a change of clothes really means for you.

  4. Wear what you are comfortable in and don't worry so much about what other people think. If you are only wearing the clothes to get others attention that it is a waste of money.

  5. you are what you are. we are not supposed to compare with others as it is not healthy. you must be simple in your attitude and develop better personality which is more useful to you. feel that you are not alone and feel that god is with you all the time depend on him alone will help you.

  6. have confidence in your clothes! its your personal style now go out there and rock it! if they dont like it they're just made cause they rip other ppls style and you dont
