  1. Its a pretty outdated rule, once fall hits you may not want to wear really lightweight gauzy white garments like sun dresses or blouses, but thats common sense since its too cool for that. Or really lightweight cotton pants or skirts.

I think heavier fabrics in white are fine like denim or wool.

All white from head to toe in the winter isnt good since you may get lost in a the snow;)

  2. Typically you don't wear white between Labor Day and Memorial Day.  It is considered a "summer" color only.  This means no white pants, shoes, purses, etc.  You can wear off-white (sometimes called "winter white").

Some things that are always okay in white - dress shirts/blouses, wedding dresses, tennis shoes.

  3. I just saw this "issue" discussed on my morning news program.

The reporter said- don't wear all white- shirt/blouse, pants/skirt, shoes, purse.

It is still o.k. to wear white.  Where I come from- N.E. Ohio, we put away the white shoes, purses, etc for spring (Easter/Memorial Day).

As long as the weather is warm, go ahead and get more use out of your white separates.

  4. I am not sure where this etiquette rule stems from. Its something even my grandmother followed. But I do know that you aren't supposed to wear white again until the memorial day weekend (USA) or victoria day weekend (Canada). The rule is for bright whites though. Off white as in cream is supposed to be ok.

However, nowadays, people do what they want. I don't know a lot of people who follow those types of fashion rules.

    I hope that helps. :)

  5. It's an outdated custom. I have heard multiple explanations for it. One being that it was a class issue.

You can wear white after Labor Day (it's traditionally no white between Labor Day and Memorial Day) but you are supposed to put away all your summery type clothes. The only white you should really stay away from is white shoes and white handbags as they do scream summertime. You can wear white as long as it is made for the season. So white sweaters are fine, white capri pants are not.

  6. You can wear white if you want!

But if you want to follow that stupid rule.... until spring starts

  7. It doesn't matter anymore. Wear white and I'm sure you will look stunning. Enjoy the beautiful day!

  8. The styles have changed for wearing white after Labor Day.

It used to be a faux pas to wear it after Labor Day, but now it has been said it is acceptable to wear it in all seasons.

It would make a difference what kind of material you would wear in white.. Like you wouldn't wear white summery pants or shorts in the cold weather,  etc.

  9. I love fashion and that faux pas has since came and went.  It is not longer of concern.  If it were a strict fashion rule, we would all know when and have it embedded into our psyche.

So, wear white, especially if you are black.  Ethnic tones look incredible in crisp white.
