Why can't baby animals stay babies forever?

Because is they destine to grow up and become an adult  just like human babies and have  a family of they own  the way it suppose to be , it is our  nature to grow up  both man and beast, yes it is sad but that is the way it was meant to  be. Peace.

hypothetically speaking, if babies can reproduce, imagine how many calves (extra lives) you have to kill to feed an entire village of savage men.

Because if baby animals stayed babies, the adult animals would die and since the baby animals are too young to reproduce, there would never be new baby animals in the world.  Then, since they were babies, they would need to be cared for, but without any more adults to feed them, the babies would then die and the world would be without animals, so babies need to grow up so that they can produce more cute babies and the world can keep going round!

Babies bring you such joy, but so does watching them grow stonger, smarter, and older. You take a journey with them and it is so great getting to see that. I raise show rabbits and it means so much to me when I don't give up on the tinest one and then after a few years it comes and wins for me. Its something special. Besides after a while I have several new babies to look at.
