the longer they will be not be in a position of power? I know you probably will report me for this, and that's OK, but you know deep down inside this is a very valid question. It seems that many black people think they are "entitled" and don't have to work hard to succeed (this is true of many white people too, don't get me wrong, but it is just because those white people are lazy or stupid, not because of some cultural reason). I have never understood why black people have not organized better, like the latinos have or the Italians or Irish in NY or whatever, and worked harder for their rights, rather than just waiting for hand outs. Again, report me if you want, but I really want to know the answer to this question.

I have met A LOT of African black people who do not act like this. So it is strictly an American phenomenon, and I want to know why. Thanks.

  1. Okay, I don't get it. If you, so called, 'met' a lot of Black people that ISN'T like what you claim, why would you ask this question? I mean, you should already know the answer. It's because people are different.

You have Black people that don't believe in what you're claiming, but then, you have Blacks in ghettos that were raised into believing it. I say, it depends on how you were raised, and people's different viewpoints of the world. For example, Black people of different culture, lifestyle, or origin would assume they should have a break. because they were slaves in the past. Also, some believe it wasn't long since the 'Jim Crow' laws were in effect, so they feel they need a break from that. It's because they're in a different state of mind and the older people in the family, most likely, raised their children like that, and it spread from generation to generation. It's delusional in my opinion, and you can't stop a delusion with a simple Yahoo! Answers question.

Nevertheless, the Blacks who think the opposite are most likely out the ghetto, free from delusions, and they feel they don't have to believe in the 'It's hard being Black in America' c**p. They aren't lazy, and they WORK HARD to get to where they are. Finally, you said, "This is true of many white people too, don't get me wrong, but it is just because those white people are lazy or stupid, not because of some cultural reason." Why don't you assume it's the same way for Black people? Some Blacks are lazy, and some Blacks are hard working.

They're probably just lazy too while the Black people 'you know' aren't. Also, please don't generalize. You make it seem like you're referring to ALL Blacks. That's not nice because I'm not like that. I'm a hard worker.

EDIT: Well, keep in mind, it doesn't matter what 'type' of Black person it is, but you do have a point. It usually IS a culture thing because it's different in African than America. But I'm sure there are some Africans who feel the same way as I described, and some who don't, whether they are in America or Africa. Trust me, I have an African friend, and she just moved from African not too long ago, and she's in that mind frame you're talking about too, believe it or not. Even though it's only one girl, I'm sure it's the same anywhere for any Black person.

  2. 100% AGREE

  3. We have the same problem in Australia, with our native population. They get so many handouts from the government, but it is detrimental to their own society. There is no initiative to get ahead, get an education and a good job, because they can sit on the dole and get everything handed to them. But because of that, they don't have the education or drive to pursue a career (eg Politician) that could benefit them as a society.

  4. yeah, I notice that a lot too...for some reason we can't organize as a whole and we're always quick to fight amongst each other...i mean, but there's still a lot of us stuck in some sh*tty situations and places...so i couldn't say what the h**l the to possibly do about it...not enough ppl with the power to do something about it do anything about it...

  6. The one thing that I don't get is the whole slavery plea, not one of them alive today was actually a slave.White people can be just as bad,but most of the time they are just lazy,or they have had everything handed to them their entire lives. The one thing that confuses me is most of the people here, in TN.Want to talk about the Hispanics being here.I always say"They came here to work our fields because the White man was to lazy to pick his own garden".If you are wondering I am white.

  7. Africa is not one country - it's a continent full of lots of different cultures, racial and ehtnic groups etc etc. There is twice as much genetic diversity in Africa as the rest of the World combined - which suggests modern man has been in Africa twice as long and we all originally came from Africa.

Now, when the blacks were taken as slaves they weren't all taken fro one bit of Africa - the slaves who were taken did not all share the same languge/ culture etc. They were as different from each other as you are from a Korean.

What this means is that Black Americans are a dispossessed people - they have had their culture/ roots/ racial identity whatever you want to call it stolen from them. When the Irish came to the US they came in a wave of Irish immigrants - people who all spoke the same language, shared the same culture and could rely on wach other for help. The same is true for all of the others - Italians, Latinos etc.

It is not true for the slaves - not only were they slaves, they were slaves in a foreign land full of foreigners ie. even the other African slaves were foreigners to them.

So being alone they lost their own cultures and had to adopt the new, slave one which let's face it was totally gruesome.

Has the US ever apologised for slavery? Have you made reperations to Africa? Do you practice fair trade with Africa? The US was to a large extent built on slavery - the labour and suffering of black Africans. Now the US is so rich, have you given anything back?

No every nation in the World was not built on genocide and as for your giving lots of aid to Africa - you are very very naive and believe whatever the government tells you. If you carry on like that you'll never understand the people/ world around you.

Fact - US foreign policy is 100% selfish and not to help other countries - the same is true of almost all countries in the World.
