Why can't car horns be outlawed?

Just think of how much more peaceful our roads and highways would be. Think of how much less road rage there would be.

Car horns serve no purpose. They're just a tool that people abuse and nothing more.

  1. This is a closed-minded question. How else would you alert people of impending doom if you don't have time to brake? Think about it, it'd be so much more reasonable to just erect sound laws so people would feel scared to use their horns for stupid reasons such as road rage.

  2. I believe they're required for safety, to alert pedestrians and other vehicles.

You are right though, I wish we could outlaw them.

  3. Look - Car horns can alert people to get out of the way when your brakes won't work. They can also alert people to look out when you're overtaking them at a high speed or when they're overtaking you. And, when someone tries to walk across the street without looking, the car horns can give them a warning so that they can't be run over.

  4. Well actually, sometimes its pretty useful. if your not one of those angry drivers and you dont abuse it, its a way of bringing attention to a situation. also, sometimes people use it to alert people in different scenarios, as well as make someone notice. for example, if you are picking up a friend and you are outside their house and waiting and you want them to know that you are there, you would beep the horn.
