Why can't edward touch bella in eclipse?

there the part in eclipse that edward can't touch bella. why? why can't he touch her? i didn't understand that part...can someone help me?

i think you're thinking of the part when Jacob, Edward and Bella are camping in the mountains to stay away from the battles with the newborns.  At the time it was freezing cold up there and Bella, being a human was shivering like crazy and Edward is ice-cold to touch, so he would make Bella be even more cold.  Jacob, being werewolf and always warm to touch, helped Bella warm up.

Because, he's so strong, and she's so fragile; the lion fell in love with the lamb. Edward doesn't want to hurt Bella, so he doesn't touch her. And don't forget, as all the other vampires claim, she does have tempting blood. He really doesn't want even the slightest chance of making a mistake, hurting her, and living in agony the rest of his life.

Is that the tent scene with Jacob, Bella and Edward? Where they were waiting for Victoria and her newborn vampires? If that was it, then I have the answer to your question.

Edward couldn't touch Bella because the weather was already so cold, and Bella's teeth were chattering like crazy. Since Edward is very cold, if he touched Bella, oh my goodness, Bella's toes would probably fall off already!

It was probably the part where they are in the tent in the mountain during the fight.  There was a snow storm and Bella was freezing.  And since Edward is really cold to Bella he did not want to make it worse, and therefore he could/would not touch her.

all right, well in general its because bellas too fragile in comparison to edward. in some cases edward's skin temperature is too cold for her.
