Secondly because a relationship of such magnitude is nothing but unnessicary drama.

Thirdly, because you'll have time for that later. It's your parents job to make sure you have a childhood.

believe me you do not want a boyfriend, you are way to young.  boys will just make everything very complicated for your life, your head will hurt, your heart will hurt, you will not be able to concentrate on anything and you will lose your sense of self and will try to be whatever your boyfriend wants you to be.  

also, a boy your age is still a bratty nose-picking mommy's little child...boys mature more slowly than girls so think of the boys your age as really around 7 or 8, psychologically.  but, a boy who is older than you will just be interested in trying to hit 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base and then home run.  The earlier you start, the earlier the boys go around the bases and you will get a reputation for being a s-l-u-t (sorry to be harsh but it is true).

children often make mistakes b/c they are not aware of how people are (adults can make mistakes too) or what their intentions might be. At ten years old you have not experienced nor done enough to know what to do in certain situations. Your parents are looking out for your better good, till you are capable of doing it yourself. You should discuse the matter with your parents and ask why they think your not mature enough to handle dating.

boys will make you feel good but they might not feel good about you so they will either flat out dump you orthey will do it in a humiliating way to look cool in front of their friends I should know my  11 year old best friend  did it to his girlfriend who was 10 years old she loved him and gave him presents and he threw them out then dumped her and she was devestated.ps love can make you do crazy things that you will regret and may hurt or kill you. ... that was from my son's point of view he is 11 so he should know.
