Why can't i add friends on windows live messenger?

Question

most of the times i can add new contacts on msn/windows live messenger

but i have this friend that when i add i can see his name(offline) in my contact list after i sign out and sign back in again his name is not there

what's wrong with my msn

try makeing another account. that happened to me once. and i got  an account. add me when u do. [e-mail]
