Question:

Why can't i concentrate UNLESS i'm over-tired?

Here's an example:

I could work on an essay when i'm fully alert during the day, but even after weeks of "working on it" i haven't produced anything, i just cannot stay focused!

But if i skip a night's sleep, i can stay up late (the next night) and finish a months worth of work no problems.

Does anyone have this problem? is it an attention disorder? Any hints on how to fix it?

I pass all my essays ok (by starting the day before they're due), but it creates so much stress (physically by the frequent lack of 2 nights sleep... and mentally freaking out about not making it & failing) and i could probably do alot better if i could work the way the average person does (starting early and pacing themselves)

Does anyone know any tips on how to get started and stay motivated? (or more importantly.... stay FOCUSED)

  1. hmm i don't really know, maybe it is your pattern, try to sleep at night and work at day.

it may seem hard first days but i am sure you will feel better, so sleep well and you will feel better

  2. Sounds like procrastination (I do it too, I'm not trying to insult you or anything). Try making a schedule of due dates for yourself, perhaps with some sort of reward. That way you can get a little bit done at a time and not have the stress of doing the whole thing in one night.
