Why can't i connect the PSP to the PC??

hi, i have an original SONY PSP and it has firmware 3.71

the problem i have is that when i try connecting the PSP to the PC it says that "insert a device/drive". i used the my brother's laptop and i works just fine i even tried to of the USB charge but it didn't make any difference i tried a new USB cable but still nothing changed. so what should i do.please HELP. i'm sure someone whould have a solution..THANKS...

  1. Check the memory card is inserted properly


  2. ok, attach ur cable. then go on your psp and press usb connection on the far left menu. then a sign should come up saying new device on ur pc. right clik the file you want to copy then click copy. go on my documents clik on the scrolling thing and clik removable disk E. paste it into there and voila.

    NOTE: your psp must have a memory stick to copy files

  3. The problem is your pc. not the psp. If it works fine on one computer but not the other its definitely yours. it sounds like you may have exceeded the power limit of the USB ports on your computer. Or they are just faulty.

    Can you use any other usb devices on your computer? do you have a powered usb hub? is your operating system updated? do you have the correct drivers installed? those are questions I would ask If I was in front of that computer.

  4. maybe something is wrong with your cmputer usb. of you have to re plug it in make sure it's pluged in all the way
