  1. Councils don't have the housing stock anymore. You will have to go private for a good few years I'd say. You should see what LHA you will be entitled to. Go to CAB or other advisory agency. There is help out there.

  2. Go and get some advice from either your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Shelter. Take a copy of your mother's tenancy agreement with you with any correspondence you have from the council about why you are being evicted.

They can help assess whether the council are within their rights to evict you and can offer advice about alternative housing options.

Do it tomorrow - don't delay. Tell them you have an eviction notice (if that's what you have) so they know it's urgent.

    Good luck.

  3. if you and your partner are British that's why they wont do anything for you as we British are now second class citizens.

  4. I was under the impression that if the named tenant died and there was a child/adult still living there, it passed to them, without the right to buy. Take all the paperwork to the CAB..........also even the council have to go through the correct channels, and need a court order to remove you.

  5. When you say that the council wont help you with re-housing you have to understand that they only have a very limited stock of housing since Maggie Thatcher sold so many off at give away prices to existing tenants. For what housing they still have, they all have massive waiting lists and work on a points system.  As you and your partner have no children and presumably are capable of working you will get no priority. If you both work you should be in a position financially to rent.
