Why can't i get my satellite signal now that i attached a digital converter to my tv?

i get my local channels over the air from my rooftop antenna, not the satellite.

  1. The converter is only for analog signals.


  2. dtv converters are not designed for satellite dish's. Unless your dish is humongous, your satellite tuner is already a digital to analog converter. DTV converters are for over the air (roof antenna or bunny ears) TV channels.

  3. Because if you have satellite you don't need a converter box.  Remove the converter box and sell it to someone who needs it.

  4. For satellite signal, you must have a separate set-top box.

    As long as the converter and the old set-top box are connected on separate inputs (and you did not disconnect it by accident), you should be able to get both signals.

    Make sure you switch the TV inputs of course as needed.

    Of course, one wonders why did you spent money for a converter box if you have already a set-top box...
