Why can't i play Wii and record a show using DVR at the same time?

Whenever i am recording a show using my DVR, i try to get on the wii by hitting the video source button and it asks me if i want to cancel my show in order to play. I have to do this if i want to play. Is there anyway to do these two things at the same time?

Have you got your Wii hooked up to your DVR?  Unhook it from your DVR and use a Audio Video AB switch with your TV instead.  If you have your Wii hooked up this way I have to assume you have only one video input on your TV hence the need for the switch.  Costs about $15 at Radio Shack and possibly less elsewhere.  Radio Shack has a more expensive one with the remote control in case you want that.

Otherwise you do not have it hooked to your DVR and you have one of the most annoying problems, clashing remote codes for your DVR and your TV.

YOU DID NOT SELECT TV when using the remote and you are actually changing the DVR input not the TV input.  Which takes me back to the first assertion that you somehow have this hooked through the DVR.
