i used to be a pretty decent singer but lately my voice has gotten really hoarse and my range had decreased a lot. and whenever i try to sing my voice sounds really over stressed. I'm 14 years old, do you think it might just be my voice changing? I'm really worried because i absolutely love singing and i don't know what i'd do if my singing voice keeps getting worse. what do i do?

  1. it might be that your voice is changing but it couild be you have noides or some other type of problem with your voice. if you are serious about singing and it doesnt go away in a few months i would get it checked by a throat specialist. that's what my friend did.

  2. Don't worry; this means your voice is developing. My vocal teacher constantly tells the choir that as you improve at singing, your voice may suddenly change range to incorporate higher or lower notes. For instance, if you are a soprano, your voice may be getting lower in order to improve your lower register. This can be either temporary or permanent, but don't worry! You will still be able to sing, you just won't be singing the same range. I had the same thing happen to me; I went from Tenor to Bass range in one year!

This may also have something to do with the weather. It's harder to sing in the winter. Also, if you have been singing for long periods in one day (especially high notes), your vocal muscles will get tired and you'll have trouble singing. Are you sick? This might also have something to do with it.

Easy fix is to have a cough drop. It'll ease your throat up and allow you to sing a little bit better.

    Hope that helps :)

  3. if your male i'd say yes, voice is probably changing, if your female ????

  4. your voice is changing since your getting older...your just getting used to your new vocals and ranges give it some time you will prob be better than before cuz youll have more range

  5. your voice is probably changing. or you sing too much and your throat needs rest.

drink lots of water and see if it feels any better.
