My dog cannot be registered under the ckc because he has a flaw, his tongue sticks out. Is this fair?

  1. if it doesn't meet the standards its definitely fair.

  2. papillons have color standards that are considered flaws.  but that wouldn't keep me from loving my pap.

  3. It may not be fair.  But the AKC has extreme rules concerning height, weight, coat length, colour, balance, etc for the basic reason that back in the day they were judging the animals on their ability as breeders.  Certain traits are seem to be desirable and some not.  For example, I have a purebred golden retriever, but he does not have a desirable coat colour (shades of blonde on his legs and chest, and golden on his back) and he is taller then they deem acceptable.  It's just the way it is.  Just because your dog's physical attributes are not deemed as acceptable does not mean that he is not a great and wonderful dog.  There are very few dogs who are able to meet the standards.

  4. they are all about finding the dog to be a representative of the breed, so they are going to be very  picky.  besides, you should love your dog to death wether he is registered or  not.

but sorry that you dog can't be registered. there is a very specific standard for all breeds.

  5. I'm not sure to which CKC you are referring, but in either case it is untrue.

The Continental Kennel Club will register anything, as long as you can find a friend to claim it's a dog.

The Canadian Kennel Club will register any purebred puppy as long as the parents are CKC open registered (not non-breeding).

  6. which CKC are you referring to, Canadian or Continental?  For Canadian, a dog can be registered if both parents were CKC registered.  I don't believe standards are very high for Contenental KC so I doubt a tongue flaw would stop you registering there.

  7. Their rules, your dog.

  8. I personally don't think it's very fair. But when it comes to things like that, they want absolute PERFECTION. So on their terms, it's fair. Sorry. :[

  9. CKC as in Canadian Kennel Club or Continental Kennel Club?

If the latter, then it's a blessing - Continental KC is a scam registry used by BYB's and Puppy Mills.  They'll register anything that walks and slightly resembles a dog (My Hamster is registered CKC as a Mini Micro Pocket Teacup Aussie).

If you're trying to register him with the Canadian Kennel Club, then both his Sire and Dam must be registered in order for you to register him.

This isn't because of his tongue...

  10. CKC as in Canadian or Continental? Continental is a bogus registry that is not legit- they register mutts. Canadian? I'm not sure of their rules, but see about a limited registration. It just means they are "pet" quality and not show or breeding quality.
