Why can't my dog keep his food down?

I have a very energetic 1 and a half year old black lab. For the past 2 days or so, he hasn't been able to keep anything down. I feed him then he throws up almost immediately. Same with when he drinks water. This happened a couple months ago, and it turned out that his stomach was upset by rawhides, but now I am extremely careful with the chew toys I give him. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what to feed him tonight so he at least has something in his stomach.

well b/c he is 1 and a half  (i have a chocolate lab shes 7 now) her stomach most likely not able to hold that much try feeding her alittle less

I would give him rice with some chicken or beef broth, and make sure he has plenty of water.

Withhold food and water for the remainder of the night.  This will give the pets stomach time to settle.  If the vomit continues after you remove food and water, then I'd contact an Emergency Vet tonight.  If no vomit after the food/water has been taken up, slowly reintroduce water in the am and monitor for further vomiting, if so, take back up and contact your vet.  If he is able to hold the water down, slowly reintroduce food and monitor.  If he is able to hold food down, monitor for remainder of day for anything out of the ordinary.  You may want to check his environment tonight to see if he got into anything he shouldn't have.  Check trash cans, toilet bowel, yard and plants.

Try feeding him a smaller amount of food at a time.  he may be eating too fast causing him to  throw up.  Give him ice cubes to give him water and keep him hydrated.

raw hides are not good for dogs they tend to stick to the inside walls of the stomach. give your dog baby food.
