Why can't my laptop connect wirelessly to the internet anymore?

Last night my internet worked fine, but this morning it wouldn't connect. I believe the wireless router is working fine, since the computer I am typing this on works fine. However, when I tried to connect to the internet this morning, my laptop suddenly can't find any wireless networks to connect to. Could I just need a new wireless card or is it something more than that?

  1. If the network card came with your computer and you are running Windows XP, try this: go to "Device Manager" via Right clicking 'My Computer' and choosing properties, then the Hardware Tab. Right click your wireless card under the green Network Cards icon, Choose uninstall and then turn off the computer and turn back on. Sounds like your settings may have become corrupted if you have rebooted already, especially if you have other computers that are seeing the wireless router you are connecting too. What happens when you do an "ipconfig/all" at a command prompt. Start, Run, type "cmd" and the click ok. Black box is the command prompt. Then type the "ipconfig/all" without the quotation marks and hit enter. Look under Wireless Ethernet Connection. You will have Ip address, default gateway, subnet mask, dhcp servers, etc. What do you have there?
