Why can't my military license for driving semis be converted to a cdl?

I have been doing this for over 10 years in the military and licensed on multiple different versions of semis. i am just looking to see if there is a reason why people in the military with the experience can't be grandfathered in for a cdl. i have passed all the written tests and medical tests for a cdl just not schedule the driving yet. just wanted to see if anyone out had the answer for me.

  1. In MN you cant. Maybe other states are different but I highly doubt it cause its a federal thing.  Some places have a truck you cant "rent" for a few hours to take your test.  Good luck

  2. Maybe because every military vehicle is standard----no manuals.  Semis are not, which makes them much more difficult.

  3. Call your DMV, and see if your military license can be transferred. If not, just go take your test. Sounds like you should have no problem passing with your experience.  - Just don't take the M-113 for your test. :-)
