Why can't my video cam's videos can't be read by the computer?

I put the small cd of the video cam and they got this thing that you put the cd into and they plug into your computer you just see the file but you can't play it. I heard something about free 3gp or something?

you have to open it with your media player that supports the format of the video on your cd. if the format of the video is not supported by your media player, it won't play. you mentioned about 3gp...well i guess your video must be in 3gp format. in that case, you would need to download video player that supports 3gp format videos. there are lots of them that you can download free. quicktime is one of them. you can also download free 3gp codec for your windows media player.
