Why can't people learn to type?

Question

Why do people have to type in such an obnoxious way?

A) It's much harder to 'typ lyk disss' than it is to 'type like this'.

B) It's so much more difficult to read when EvErY oThEr LeTtEr Is CaPiTaLiZeD.

I can understand when people type abbreviations. Or make spelling mistakes. And even put in a '2' instead of 'to' SOMETIMES.

But is it really worth it to type so stupidly?

I totally agree. I can't STAND that. I don't understand why they need to sound ghetto over the computer too. Good question :D

Because the majority of the population today are idiots who don't appreciate proper grammar. It's like parachute pants or peace signs, everyone is doing it, so they feel the need to too. Even if it's not practical.

It may not be easy, but they sure think it looks cool. (Don't tell me you never peppered your chats with "LMAO"s when you were younger.)

Besides, what makes you think that's detrimental to the English language? I look at it like a new, evolving language. Back in the day, the Brits used to think American English was a bastardization of British English - now we're a legit dialect. It's just historical perspective. In twenty years, we'll be fascinated with how "chtspk" evolved.

Edit: Don't you think that's fascinating, though? I mean, "lol" now means "haha." It doesn't ever mean "laugh out loud." Even countries that don't speak English use "lol," nowadays. And for a language that's mainly written and not spoken, isn't it interesting how people are trying to vocalize it? It just shows how much computers are permeating our lives, if we express the desire to speak an unspoken internet language.

Edit 2: You might be curious to read up on linguistic prescriptivism and descriptivism. "Grammar n***s" are prescriptivists.

Its internet slang,when people type like "EvErY oThEr LeTtEr Is CaPiTaLiZeD" then its stupid.But let loose a little proper typing is for school.Theres no need to be so uptight.Its not like we can just tell everyone to stop so we might as well just deal with it.If you can't beat them join them.

It's because we've become a text message society, and instead of the kids actually learning the correct way to type and spell, they'd rather be cute (or lazy) and use text message jargon.  I'm not that old (I'm 28) and I find it to be so annoying.  

To answer your question, "Is it really worth it to type so stupidly?", I'd have to say absolutely not.  Typing like that makes the person look stupid.  In fact, before I have completely read their question, I've already determined that they are lazy and completely lackadaisical.  In about fifty years, we're gonna see books and magazines written like the questions in this forum.
